Speaking of Accessories . . .
Still haven't selected any window treatments, but I'm off to Bed, Bath, and Beyond this afternoon to peruse and inspect (and possibly purchase). Unfortunately, my house can't try on and model potential accessories. Fortunately, however, she's a nice looking girl with good bones; she can make a lot of looks "work!"
Thought I would share my own current favorite accessory, a purse that my mother knitted for me.

This purse was "inspired" by the Margaret Nicole line of knit bags. I cannot afford a Margaret Nicole, therefore, I asked my mother to make me something similar. I am so grateful that she did. I believe that Margaret Nicole purses cost well over $100. This purse cost my mother $15 in materials, and she whipped it out in a day. I'd love to see what she could do with some Louis Vuitton or Coach material.
Lucky, lucky, lucky.
That's me.

Oh, it is SO fabulous and darling! You are indeed a lucky girl to have such a fun and talented mamma!
as a girl with sooo many bags they need a house of their own, i love, love, love this...it's so cute.
i might have to get my mum to make me something similar...
you ARE a lucky girl :)
cool. i knit i wonder if the directions are online anywhere.
Talent runs in the family it seems. :)
love it! your mom rocks!
That's so cute!!
Lucky you!
Very nice purse. Next you will have to show us photos of new window treatments.
You are SO lucky! I have quite a purse fetish myself, and absolutely covet this one.
I am just beginning some much needed sprucing up of my home too- she deserves it, poor old thing!
I'll be making some trips to BB&B myself in the coming weeks!
First the window treatments, then the short story, and now the very cool purse--you are lucky! Lucky, indeed.
You must ask your mom if she can whip one out for me, over here in Sydney! Amazing! :)
I could spend all day in those stores, just ambling around not really buying anything. Sadly, we don't have those here, either. Deprived!!

How cute is that!!! My mom is a big sewer too and she is always making what I put my order in for, lol. Right now its white silk cord covers for my chandeliers. Love, love, LOVE this knitted purse. Mom's rock!

It's Monday now, what did you find at BBB?
after my own heart - i'm a bag girl too! love this...it's so adorable.
that purse is fabulous - and the bow - words elude me trying to describe how much I love that BOW!!
Sheesh that is one precious purse. I love big satin bows.. and I am not kidding. I would kill for a cream one with a big pale pink bow!!
Cute purse. :) And it looks like just the right size.
What a wonderful purse! Unlike window treatments, you can never have too many cute handbags so you're doing the right thing....pondering window coverings and contemplating fall outfits!!
That purse will look PERFECT sitting on the bar at the Algonquin (sp) hotel this summer as you and your honey have cocktails after taking in a show. (=
I love that bag! can you change out the sash to go with different outfits?
:)
Very cute bag! I wish I knew how to do crafty things like that. And, I just bought curtains for me new 'writing room' the other day on the Urban Outfitters website. They're a simple kimono-print. Love em.
Part Deux :),
Thank you! I feel really blessed that she is mine!
Madeleine,
My mom said it was really easy to make. Isn't it fabulous to have talented mothers from whom we can "commission" pieces? Thanks for your kind words!
RDL,
I believe my mom found a pattern online. She might have modified it slightly. Let me know if you decide to knit it--I'd love to see your finished product! The inside is lined and it's beautiful! Thank you!
Pearl,
You are too kind! Thank you!
Jojo,
Thank you so much! My mom will be thrilled with your comment!
Deb,
Thanks! I'm wearing the poor thing out because I just love it so much! Then again, I don't think there's a handbag out there that I don't love . . .
Michelle,
Having a hard time committing to the window treatments, so they're on hold! But, as soon as I take the plunge, I'll slap'em up here! Thanks!
Becca,
I'm a bit obsessed with the home accessories--though I can't commit, and I can't seem to bring myself to part with the cash! I'm glad you love a bag, too--by the way, I LOVED your Scribbling!
January,
Still working on the revisions for the short story but I'm learning to enjoy the process! I agree completely--so lucky! And after visiting your blog today and seeing those fabulous little faces staring back at me, I'd say that you're pretty lucky, too!
Sarah,
You cracked me up with the fireworks post on your blog . . . and now with the peeping tom scenario! Yep, the first windows to be dressed here were the bathroom and bedroom windows, too. Poor, other neglected fellows--seems to be the general pattern! Thanks for your visit and your comment!
Aly,
Thank you! And thank you for answering all of my questions on your blog! It was so nice learning more about you!
A,
At BBB, I bought brown nylon storage containers and a Yankee candle for the bathroom. That's it. Mac was not "in the mood" to look at curtains . . . but I did see some really nice sheer ones that would look nice as "scarves." Stop posting pictures of your beautiful home--you're making me crazy, wanting to rip my onwn place apart and rebuild it like yours!
I love that your mom takes orders, too! You'd better post pictures of the cord covers! Gorgeous!
Pink Sky,
Thanks for your visit! And thanks so much for your kind comment! I really appreciate it!
Meg,
I love the bow, too! The Margaret Nicole purses are often decorated with big, funky 1980s style brooches. I'd like to find a medium-sized pin for this girl--she deserves her own accessory!
Holli,
Oh, one of the Margaret Nicoles that I loved was cream colored, with a brown bow! I love me a bow, too! I love your taste in things! Are you watching Supernova? What do you think? Were you offended by Tommy Lee's panty remark last week--he lost some points in my eyes!
Deirdre,
My mom was a little put out that the handles were so big, but they were the only ones she could find. The purse itself is the perfect size--fits my wallet, keys, some makeup, myriad receipts, and a thin paperback! So pretty for Summer!
Kiki,
Can I just tell you how much I LOVE that comment--love it because you made me daydream about the trip and I could visualize the bag on the bar! Thank you! Just the little gift that I needed today to keep me from thinking (obsessing) about the heat! Hope you are staying cool!
Amber,
Yes, the bow can be changed. I wasn't wild about the shade of pink at first, and my mom said to just change it. There are spaces (sort of like belt loops, but not really) where the ribbon can be woven in). Thanks for your kind words! I appreciate them! Hope you're keeping cool, too!
Laini,
What the hell--you just made a gorgeous mosaic table! I would think that that definitely qualifies you as a contender in the crafty dept! As soon as I'm done typing this, I'm off to Urban Outfitters to look at curtains. Thanks for the tip. And congrats on all of the progress with the writing room! It sounds lovely!
