The Artist Will Be Available For Questions During The Reception

The house is coming down with art, and I'm not complaining. Here are some of the masterpieces (and I mean that) that we have acquired:

"Fatha' Hines"
Collage Art by Colleen Kingston Latimer

"A Lancashire Village"
Print of original by L.S. Lowry

Untitled
Painting by Lou Hamilton

Untitled
Painting by Mac Hamilton

What art do you own that you treasure?

On my living room wall I have a print of Water Lilies by Claude Monet. It is a favourite of mine. I acquired it from the Toronot Museum many years ago.

My walls are still bare - we moved into our new house in July!!! One of my goals is to get some art. So far I have bought one photo - by a local photographer (and friend) of a blue hydrangea. I love it! I have a long way to go to finish decorating my home.

Hi. I just found my way into your universe and thought I'd leave a fingerprint. I noticed you put After Hours on your fav. movies list - a fav. of mine as well. Also, I dug the poem you posted the other day about your dad.

I do not know if this is considered art, but I have an original cover art for a superman comic book hanging in my home.

We don't have much art, but what we do have, I love.

A mosiac fishbowl that a friend made.. It is very summery and it sits on my desk and makes me think warmer thoughts.

Tons of black framed photos, my favorite are ones of Jay and his dad, of Xavier the first time we got him latched on and a very old one of my mom.

Also, a painting Xavier did for me with his hands and feet. I will cherish it forever. It was one of those 'perfect' days that I will never, ever forget.
(you can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ritapita/21139044/in/set-492247/
if you are interested)

I love the one on the bottom too.. it looks like something I would definitly hang in my house.

What a great collection, all so different!

Most of my walls have my art, mainly because nobody else wants it and it will only get wrecked if it gets stored in the attic or garage...and, quite honestly, I also have a hard time parting with it. I do become emotionally attached to my work, probably because I don't get to work that much and it takes me so long to finish one piece.

I have a couple of hand-illumined motos done by the Roycrofters in East Aurora, NY. I'm fascinated by the Art & Crafts Movement in the early 1900's, which brought us such things as Stickley furniture and Tiffany lamps.

I have a bunch of prints that I picked up at Wal-Mart on clearance. I have the "Dogs Playing Poker," and a bunch of Monet prints.

I wish I had cool things like that to hang on my walls. Mine are not even in frames.

Colleen,
I love Monet's work. Thanks for sharing!

Jennifer,
We've been in our house for seven years and have only recently started to seriously think about what we want on the walls. Of course, having a child who produces bulk artwork at pre-school helps! Have fun acquiring things you love!

Antonia,
Bookshelves are fine "artwork," as far as I'm concerned! Hope your headache is finally gone!

Chris,
Oh, what a lovely idea--a "fingerprint" in someone's universe! I adore "After Hours." It made me fall in love with NYC!

Acumamakiki,
I loved your post--your stories and art are wonderful. I'm so glad you did it!

CR,
Lou would consider that comic book cover art. So would I. And if you do, too, then it's decided. IT IS!

Rita,
Your art sounds beautiful. I'm off to check out the link, but anything created by X. is surely a masterpiece!

Rebecca,
I adore your work. It belongs on your walls! Don't ever let me catch you saying that you have it stored away somewhere--I would claw my chest and howl!

P.S. I didn't know that it took you a long time to finish a piece. That's so interesting--I love hearing about people's creative processes.

Jason,
I'm going to check out the link. I'm afraid to navigate away from this page--don't want to lose what I've written. I'll be back!

Doc,
My favorite art are the things created by people I know. Unique, one-of-a-kind, that whole bit. I don't know anything about art, either. Oh, but I do have that "Dogs Playing Poker" print--I love it!

Human Z,
I would have figured you on a wildlife photo. kind of guy. Go figure.

Jason,
Thanks for the link. That was so interesting! I'm from Edinboro, PA originally (near Erie)--about 90 minutes from Buffalo. Aren't you in PA, too?
