Feeling Joyful
I love a list.
I love food.
A love list that focuses on food:
I love beer batter fish, rice noodles, cracked pepper medley, grape tomatoes, parmesan cheese, vegetarian sausage, crab balls, habanero peppers, peanut dressing, scrambled eggs, olive oil, Smiley Fries sprinkled with malt vinegar, barley, mashed potatoes, Kimchi , cream of asparagus soup, guacamole, sauteed broccoli, coconut donuts, No-Bakes, Spanish rice, chocolate chip pie, rosemary, spinach, spring rolls, vegetarian chili, penne arrabiata, reuben loaf without the corned beef, baked vegetables, twice baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese, black bean tacos, and risotto.
I can make most of those things, too (not the spices, or the sausage, or the donuts, or the spring rolls. . . okay, I can make some of that stuff). I love a cookbook, too--I can sit for hours, reading one like it's a novel. My current favorite is "How To Cook Everything" by Mark Bittman. By Everything, he means Everything. I've loved that book for over two years.
I'm hungry.
We're eating out tonight. I am picturing exquisite restaurant, dim lighting, cloth napkins, the subtle murmur of other patrons. Cocktails, appetizers, a light but filling dinner, followed by rich, decadent dessert.
Everyone else here is picturing Cracker Barrel.
Guess who will win?

Sometimes Cracker Barrel delivers right? I heart food as well. Too bad I'm not a good cook.
Kiki, more often than not, Cracker Barrel delivers (esp. with their scrumptious chicken-rice platter with all the sides!). Unfortunately, we didn't even make it there--our five year old is sick and started running a fever. Lou ran out for Chipotle (me) and McDonalds (them).
I'll bet you're a better cook than you think, but even if you're not, that's why you live close to the city that is filled with every cuisine imagineable! Who has to be a good cook with NYC next door! xo
hey stranger, long time no see.
And for the record, I like Cracker Barrel.
Your list is making me hungry, too. Now I feel I have to get a snack before I go to bed. Whatever should I have? Probably something not healthy. Yes, a non-healthy Spicy Nacho Doritos snack. MMMMM.
BTW, I love all of your cooking. Usually, the spicier the better. Especially the recent batch of barley soup.
And although we did not make it out, we still had fun together tonight.
Mmmm, a good chunk of my day is thinking about what food I would like to make and then another big chunk making it, so I know exactly where your coming from, La Dolce Began and the Garden of Vegan are my current favourite cook books - super delicious, but I will easily put on a couple of stone if I keep on baking (and eating all of) the dessert recipies! :)
heehee.
I like most of those things. And I also LOVE cookbooks. Kory makes fun of me, because I don't actually USE them all that often...whatever!
:)
Mmmmm...your list sounded yummy! (Well, most of it anyway..hehehe.) And Amber said what I was going to say - I LOVE cookbooks, love to look at them, love to read them, have DOZENS of them on my shelves, but do I actually COOK from them? Um, not so much. :-) (When I MUST cook, I pretty much just wing it.)
Oh --- Oh your list makes me hungry - guess I have to go find something to eat :)
I've found cooking magazines to be great reading for air travel and sitting at hospitals. The pictures are pretty and the text is perfect for the short attention span those moments demand. Hope you had a good dinner wherever you ended up.
Hey, I don't think I even consider going out any more. I feel special when we order subs and pizza. How sad! Can't tell you the last time I have been to a restaurant that I didn't DRIVE THROUGH IT! enjoy whatever splenderings you are able to not have to prepare yourself. cheers.
