Random Post-ItsTo Myself, Scattered About
-I have nothing to say but if I start writing, maybe I will discover a gem, a twinkle of insight, a glittery snail path to inspiration
-maybe not
-I need to get out more
-buy Mother's Day cards and mail them a.s.a.p.
-new notebook=new motivation? stop at paper store
-as the yard sale pile stretches and teeters, I feel a lightening, a sense of freedom, an appreciation for the things that I choose to own; I don't feel owned by extraneous, useless items, such as: decorative pilsners, ugly Christmas tree ornaments, scratched saucepans, character-themed cups from Burger King, extra clothes pins, long black stretch skirt (circa 1997), pewter trumpeter-angel pin, etc.
-time to get rid of the "crystal" kitten candle holder on my dresser, given to me by ex-boyfriend's sister in 1993
-kicky wooden-soled sandals as Summer shoe purchase?
-explore shoe storage options
-use the word "trite" to describe as many things as possible today: trite advice, trite praise, trite fashion, trite TV programming, trite concern in the anchorman's voice, trite list of stuff that is "trite"
-commit to Spanish; reward self with more books by Hispanic authors. Look for Don Quixote at library. Who wrote Don Quixote? Will it be boring?
-brag about homemade pasta sauce in post: perfect combination of peppers, tomatoes, garlic, wine, crumbled asiago cheese, and seasoning. Commit to avoiding jarred sauce because homemade seems to taste better and is cheaper. Don't become a sauce snob, however.
-write a word portrait today about the passel of elderly veterans who met at the library on Sunday in their uniforms of powder blue jackets, navy slacks, and tassled fez hats. Write about two of the men squinting on the steps in the sunlight while discussing their "brother," Chip, who called to ask if Stan had brought the guns for the ceremony.
-remember to stretch, dance, pause, prioritize, reflect, and appreciate

Don Quixote...Cervantes? (I should probably look that up since I've only had one cup of coffee, but never mind.) Never read it, but I've seen "Man of LaMancha". Does that count? Heh.
I'm in something of a purging-of-stuff sort of mood lately too. I hope it lasts long enough for me to make some significant inroads into our Excess o' Stuff.
I hope this comment wasn't too terribly trite. :-D
OMG, this made me laugh so hard.... really entertaining and can so relate.
I swear I have one of those long, stretchy, black tube skirts, and yes, get rid of the ex-boyfriend sister thing on your DRESSER! Lou puts up with alot.
Enjoy your yardsale, but no second thoughts. I started grabbing things out my piles before the yard sale began....i am such a pack rat.
I got to brush up on my vocab...cause I have never heard the word "passel of elderly" before.
You keep me smiling.
Hey~
Even your random thoughts on post-it notes aren't trite...somehow you've made them droll, interesting....dare I say brilliant. (Hee hee)
Deb's right about Cervantes. I read it in a haze for finals in college -- was ill and spent several days lapsing from sleep to Don Quixote to sleep to Don Quixote... I don't remember it well, but would be inclined to think "boring." Let us know! Love the "snail trail" of inspiration - great image; and I share your need to "get out more", but it is always warring with my need to "get more done" too!
Your list made me chuckle. Tis the season for spring clear outs, I think you've inspired me. I swear I'll get around to it soon, just right after I have a flick through your archive...
So loved this. Lists are the best. They help us to get things done. I had nothing to say this morning either and ended up writing another haiku. This one made me look depressed. Hummmm......
There's nothing worse than a trite sauce snob ;)
I loved this list...it looks a lot like the ones I make on a daily basis...trying to kick start some inspiration through structure. How is it even your to-do lists inspire me? :)
I've never read Don Quixote...and it's one of those books I think I *should* read. I try to read classics online to save money, but after a failed attempt to do it with Middlemarch, I think I need to suck it up and spend the money.
Your pasta sauce sounds divine...I'm very lazy and make mine with a jar, but hmm...better tasting sauce? I need to ponder this...
I thought you said that thing was from your DAD!!! It better be gone by the time I get home. :) j/k
Nice list, loved the sauce last nice. Much better than my list. Oh, I forgot. I don't have lists (unless you give me one). Maybe I should start keeping more lists. Seems like I keep forgetting things in my old age. BTW, what am I writing about, again?
Anyway, hope your day is going good. I'll see you later. Love ya!
Lord no, the world doesn't need another sauce snob. Make a stand!
I don't remember being entranced by Don Quixote. Blah.
I may steal your notes idea for tomorrow.. just so I can stop the bitching and moaning train!!
I love the notes idea and perhaps if I were to have a list of notes to self, I might be able to check things off the ever growing to do's.
so glad to see an entry from you today :) Your writing - even a "simple" list - is always wonderful fun to read.
Hi! Thanks for your comment on my blog, so that I could follow you here! I see you at many blogs I visit, so nice to meet you. ;)
I giggled at the "crystal" kitten candle holder. hehehe. Why do we hold on to those things?
:)
PS-- I liked your Sun Scrib, too.
remember to stretch, dance, pause, prioritize, reflect, and appreciate
That is something I can do with you!
there's a love sonnet in don quixote that's really quite pretty. (:
Lovely list hon and you MUSt share your pasta sauce recipie in detail...well when I can stomach food again.
a.
what is a passel?
i love this list. having extra things i dont use (yard sale ref) makes me feel like i am suffocating... i am weird that way. well i am weird other ways too. happy thursday!
I love this list. It felt right for me as I read it - not because I wanted to do all of the things that you wanted to do but because it became obvious to me that I needed to make a list like this for myself. I need to get it all out of my head - thank you for the inspiration!!
this list is a collection of inspiration my dear...i love the last line and the reminder to stretch...pause...reflect. so good.
